- JAPAN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (ADB-JSP) 2006
AT THE EAST-WEST CENTER / UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT MANOA
Deadline: November 1, 2005
General Information
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) – Japan Scholarship Program (JSP),
hereafter ADB Scholarship Program, was established in 1988 with financing
from the Government of Japan. It aims to provide an opportunity of
well-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries to pursue
postgraduate studies at participating academic institutions.
The East-West Center in Hawai’i, USA, also receives a grant from the ADB to
support Graduate Degree Fellowships for a postgraduate study at University
of Hawai’i – Manoa campus (UHM). Applicants must apply in one of the
following fields of study approved by the ADB:
1.Architecture (ArchD)
2.Business Administration (MBA),and
3.Japan-focused Executive MBA (JEMBA)
4.Economics (MA, PhD)
5.Geography (MA, PhD)
6.International Management (Ph.D)
7.Law (LLM)
8.Natural Resources & Environmental Management (MS, Ph.D)
9.Ocean & Resource Engineering (MS, PhD)
10.Oceanography (MS, PhD)
11.Pacific Islands Studies (MA)
12.Public Administration (MPA)
13.Sociology (MA, PhD)
14.Tropical Plant & Soil Science (MS, PhD)
15.Urban & Regional Planning (MURP, PhD)
Eligibility
Be a citizen of Thailand or an ADB developing member country
Achieve the equivalent of a four-year bachelor’s degree
Have at least 2 years work experience
Minimum TOEFL score of 213 for computer-based TOEFL
Other required tests: GRE (Graduate Record Examination) for some
fields of study and GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) for the
Accounting, and Business Administration areas, refer to the UH application
Graduate Program Requirements Table for 2006-2007 for specific requirements
of each field of study.
Applicants are recommended to take the required test(s) as early as possible
or no later than the scholarship application deadline. Visit the

Funding Provision
Funding is available for up to 2 years for either master’s or PhD.
Recipients (not include spouse and dependents) of funding from the ADB
receive full support including round trip air transportation.

Submission of Application
Candidates should submit the completed application form and supporting
materials directly to the East-West Center in Hawaii, USA, postmarked no
later than November 1, 2005 for the term commencing in Fall Semester
(August) 2006.
Award Announcement
The East-West Center, Hawai’i, USA will announce Award Winners by April2006. |
