Topic：sending criminal to pension or give education or job training methods instead. What is you extent?
It is a long run topic whether the criminals should be sent to prison or be given education and job training, which has triggered a very contentious discussion. People retain such varied notions that they can hardly reach an absolute consensus. Before presenting my viewpoint, I intend to take a closer look at the arguments on both sides.
From some people’s point of view, it is necessary to send the people who are involved in all kinds of crimes to the prison for a number of reasons as follows. First, the government set up the prison in hopes that every criminal is teached that to abide the rules and regulations. Statistics gathered by Sun Yat-sen University reveal that over 92% no longer engage in all kinds of crimes. So a prison is a ideal place for them to turn law-abiding. Then second, they have to deal with other people, from which they can learn cooperation and toleration. Not only can the criminals get benefits, but the society becomes peaceful. People live in a world of less danger and they feel less worried.
Many others, however, argue that giving them education and training counts for more. The most frequently stressed factor is ignorance and poverty. The main purpose of education is to provide everyone with knowledge and ideas that will enable them to live more fulfilling and satisfying lives. It is
estimated that in China the vast majority of the criminals only accept six-year primary education. They have insufficient access to education and find it hard to sustain themselves through a decent job. So education is a fundamental method to solve the problem. Moreover, education can generate their interests, which make them confident to the future. And last but not least, sending them to the prison is detrimental to their mental health.
Considering themselves useless and outcast, the criminals feel depressed and frustrated all the time. To make things worse, they may become world-weary and even commit suicide.
Taking into account all the above factors, we can see that both sides have sound foundations. To my mind, the advantages of education and job training far outweigh those of sending them to prison. Criminals should be given a chance to acquire knowledge and skills if they are willing to, which enhances the quality of citizens and make the society thrive.
